How Greatly That Industrial Piercing Will Hurt
Many people are apprehensive about getting an industrial piercing because they are concerned over the amount of pain involved. Here is information about the procedure and how much it will hurt.
Industrial piercing refers to a piercing procedure where two pierced holes are connected with a straight piece of jewelry. Industrial piercing is also referred to as scaffold piercing or even construction piercing.
This type of piercing is generally done on the upper ear cartilages. The first piercing is done at the top of the ear and the second piercing is further down the ear diagonal and opposite the first spot.
How Much Does it Hurt?
The amount of pain involved in getting an industrial piercing depends on each person’s threshold for pain. But in general it is quick and considered only slightly more painful that a traditional piercing in an ear lobe. The vast difference is that it is done twice-upper piercing and lower piercing.
It is primarily cartilage that the piercings are passing through and there are less nerve endings in this area than other parts of the body. Many people have described the pain as a 5 on a scale of 1-10. For most people that is uncomfortable, but tolerable. A belly button piercing, by comparison has been described as a 7 on a scale of 10. Remember this can modify from one person to another.
What seems to be most important is that a piercer is selected that is experienced and is careful and is keen on sterilization, cleanliness and safety. If you select and use a piercer that really knows what they are doing that will greatly reduce the pain you will feel.
There is always the risk of problems and infection with this type of procedure. If that occurs there can be a lingering pain that may final for days or more depending on the severity of the problem. Again this can be minimized if you select a piercer carefully that is careful and works under the most sanitary conditions.
